Resumo
This thesis seeks to prove the hypothesis that the traditional teaching of architectural design has been predominantly focused on the individual design process or on groups of professionals, not considering the participation of users since the design phases. As we see it, this approach is insufficient to deal with the complex design problems that arise in situations of urban territorial vulnerability. Therefore, the research was organized in three chapters. In chapter 1, “The discussion on traditional project teaching”, we start from a few authors' references with an approach of an individual work on the design process. In chapter 2 “Theoretical guiding parameters for the development of a teaching project that contemplates the user's participation in the design process”, several authors and experiences are presented that demonstrate the richness and complexity of the design process in architecture when the dimension of the user is taken into account when developing a proposal. In chapter 3, “Parameters related to the conceptions and approaches with respect to the user’s role in the design process”, we work the characterization, the concept, and approaches of the term ‘user’ that define parameters and establish the user's understanding and participation in Architecture, in all its stages.
