The present work is an exploratory study about Hendrik G. Stoker’s suggested supplement to Cornelius Van Til’s epistemology. Stoker proposes that there are two irreducible and correlated approaches to the problem of knowledge: the P-A approach, that deals with the relation between creature and Creator; and the P-C approach, that emphasizes the internal relations in creation. Van Til’s focus would be the first approach, and Stoker reflects upon the second one. We seek to identify how Stoker’s proposal can bring together vantilian epistemology and issues of the scientific practice, investigating first whether that proposal maintains Van Til’s formulations intact, and, later, its implications for scientific disciplines or problems. Regarding the first question, we find that the correlation between Stoker’s two approaches guarantees vantilian antithesis is maintained in the realm of science. As for the second part, we outline how each one of Stoker’s approaches can be more or less emphasized in a given field of scientific research, and we further suggest ways of identifying which approach is focused by that research. We conclude by recommending future investigation into the practical application of vantilian epistemology as supplemented by Stoker.
