Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the practice of animal testing, which has been a controversial subject for years due to the widespread use of less-than-ideal methods, which involve the infliction of pain, suffering and distress on living beings. In addition to the torture suffered by laboratory animals, it’s important to note that animal testing is inaccurate, which can lead to erroneous results, given that animal physiology and its responses to certain substances can differ significantly from ours, which can bring risks that would be easily avoided with conscious scientific practice. The theme is controversial due to the difference between ethical and scientific perspectives, since there is no consensus between the areas of knowledge about which is more important in the development of humanity. For the present essay, it was used, primarily, bibliographical research, with the aid of books, scientific articles, and related studies in the main means of communication.
