Abstract
The project "For forward Brazil, save the ball: Soccer in the lead years" has as its central theme the military regime in Brazil and its relationship with soccer. The military government established in the twentieth century used the main brazilian sport as an important instrument to favor the image of the military. With that, the Brazil national team and the creation of a national championship of clubs were decisive for the question. On the other hand, the Corinthians Democracy and the fans were the main movement of opposition to the military dictatorship. In addition, the military pursued athletes who had different political ideology, such as former soccer players Afonsinho, Nando and Reinaldo, and the coach João Saldanha, who didn’t lower their heads and continued to practice their profession
