- Artigo de eventoAcceasy - A front-end framework prototype for developing responsive web applications with accessibility for visually impaired people Acceasy ? Um protótipo de framework front-end para o desenvolvimento de aplicacões web responsivas com acessibilidade para deficientes visuaisGermano R.S.; Eliseo M.A. (2020)© 2020 AISTI.This article presents a study for the creation of a framework for the front-end development of web applications with accessibility for the visually impaired and responsiveness. As a result, Acceasy (created tool), its operation, some examples and the project's contributions to web application developers and end users are presented. As a final result, the framework created proved to be able to generate responsive web pages, with semantic codes and use of accessibility markings, automatically and transparently for web developers, thus facilitating their work. Pages created with the tool also show improvements in accessibility for screen readers. Some validations still need to be made and at the end, future work is listed.
- Artigo de eventoAccessibility Assessment in an Inclusive Course for Hearing Impaired Develop from SELI Platform Avaliação de Acessibilidade em Curso Inclusivo para Deficientes Auditivos Desenvolvido a partir da Plataforma SELIBonifacio L.S.; Portugal L.C.; Eliseo M.A. (2022)© 2022 IEEE Computer Society. All rights reserved.Accessibility is a fundamental part of inclusion in learning, especially in online courses, so that the student, regardless of their physical or cognitive limitations, can have autonomy in carrying out a course. This paper analyzes and discusses accessibility for the hearing impaired in digital courses made available on the SELI platform, following WCAG 2.1, from some automatic tools, in addition to a manual assessment. The results show that the automatic accessibility assessments needed to be complemented with the manual assessment. In addition, the accessible course developed with the help of the SELI platform for the hearing-impaired inclusion needs improvements, especially in the provision of multisensory content.
- Artigo de eventoAccessible Augmented Reality to support chemistry teachingPaciulli G.H.; De Lima Y.C.; Faccin M.T.; Amelia Eliseo M. (2020)© 2020 IEEE.Learning technologies are innovating the Education, offering resources that enrich the teaching-learning process. Among the various resources offered, Augmented Reality (AR) stands out, where real and virtual worlds are mixed. However, AR brings visual-based interactions only, blocking any experiences from students with visual limitations. Therefore, this work explored the accessibility guidelines in order to match the experience of a visually impaired user with a non-impaired user while interacting with AR. Thus, to verify if this is possible an AR application, Accessible Chemistry, was developed. Based on assisted technologies, it aimed to teach concepts of atoms connections and compounds formations to students with low vision. Finally, a predictive evaluation was made to validate it"s accessibility.
- Artigo de eventoFostering Inclusive Education through Universal Instructional DesignEliseo M.A.; De La Higuera Amato C.A.; Oyelere S.S.; Martins V.F.; Silveira I.F. (2021)© 2021 AISTI.Planning a course that promotes inclusive learning effectively is not a simple task. Each student has different learning goals and specific needs in relation to the level of depth and abstraction of the knowledge to be acquired. To ensure inclusive education, the development of Instructional Design must be carried out carefully to address all these differences. Inclusive education through universal perspectives provides learning for all students, respecting their limitations, whether cognitive or physical. Among the challenges in planning an inclusive course, it is possible to point out the identification of educational needs, the creation of a flexible, personalized curriculum, seeking the most appropriate communication for the student, establishing actions that optimize time for course creation and delivery. In this context, this work aims to discuss the challenges in implementing Universal Instructional Design techniques supported by digital technologies to foster inclusive education.
- Artigo de eventoFramework to Creation of Inclusive and Didactic Digital Material for ElderlyEliseo M.A.; Oyelere S.S.; Silva C.A.D.; Silveira I.F.; Tomczyk L.; Hercovici M.; Amato C.A.D.L.H.; Akyar O.Y.; Martins V.F. (2020)© 2020 AISTI.The elderly population has been increased due better health conditions and quality of life. With a healthier aging, the elderly start to have a more active and participative life in society. They pursue, among other things, to acquire new knowledge and despite being a generation which access to existing technology was restricted, there is an increase in the use of digital technologies, especially in the educational field. However, with advancing age, cognitive and motor skills decrease. Given this scenario, the creation of accessible didactic materials that include the elderly population is necessary. This paper shows a framework to create inclusive digital material for elderly learning. The framework will help teachers to create digital contents that support elderly learners' personalized educational goals.
- Artigo de eventoPhanSound: An entertainment audiogame for the sighted and visually impaired PhanSound: Um audiogame de entretenimento para videntes e deficientes visuaisTaus C.M.; Siqueira E.B.D.; Santos R.M.D.; Amato C.A.D.L.H.; Martins V.F. (2023)© 2023 ITMA.There is a great lack of accessible entertainment options for low vision and blind people, especially in the gaming scene. Considering this gap, this paper proposes the development of a memory game that has audio as its main form of communication with the player, in other words, an audiogame. The product created is an iOS application that uses spatial audio and VoiceOver technologies as tools to promote accessibility, both for people with visual impairments and for sighted people. The app was tested with 18 sighted people and 1 blind person, the results are presented in this paper.
- Artigo de eventoRefining the Acceasy Framework from an accessibility assessment Refinamento do Framework Acceasy a partir de avaliação de acessibilidadeGermano R.S.; De Sousa T.A.N.; Eliseo M.A. (2021)© 2021 AISTI.Online applications and services are increasingly present in people's routine, so giving attention to accessibility has become essential for reducing barriers in accessing these web interfaces. Thus, with the intention of facilitating the creation of accessible web pages that include accessibility guidelines, frameworks were developed, such as Acceasy, which help in the construction of these applications. Thus, this work aims to improve the Acceasy framework from an accessibility assessment for the visually impaired on a website created with the help of this framework. The accessibility tests carried out after the improvements implemented in the framework showed that it is possible to generate accessible HTML content for people with visual impairments with the help of Acceasy.
- Artigo de eventoThe Experience of the Elderly in Using Applications Case Study of a Banking ApplicationNavikas F.H.; Moreira M.D.; Higa G.D.; Granollers T.; Abou Mourad J.P.F.; Martins V.F. (2022)© 2022 IEEE Computer Society. All rights reserved. The inclusion of the elderly in the digital world is still quite incipient in several parts of the world. The lack of satisfaction of the elderly in the use of computational applications is related to the lack of adaptations to their limitations. The feeling of frustration, fueled by insecurity and disorientation, keeps the elderly away from technology. This study proposes a detailed methodology using heuristic evaluation based on works established in the literature on usability and accessibility, taking into account the aging of the population. To validate the set of heuristics, a case study on two banking applications was carried out.
