This study seeks to present the contribution, as well as the relevance of the ecclesiastical concept of the Reformer John Calvin for modern juris-philosophical thought, more precisely on the issue of the development of the Democratic State of Law. Where he used his influence in Geneva and his knowledge of Law, to develop an ecclesiastical model that was not limited to the uses of the Church in his time, but also helped in the composition of his government and continues to this day. Calvin developed a discipline in church government that we can take into account as a contribution to the construction of the Rule of Law, in which the best-known sources proposed a democratic system with innovations and a perennial form of republicanism, bringing the conception of brakes and counterweights, separation and balance of powers, elections, government limited to time and functions, federal structures and free association. The conclusion of the study is the importance of valuing the bases that the pastor proposed in his government system, as well as the possibility of increasing the research material involved in this topic, taking into account the vast amount of primary sources that have been left to us.
