dc.description.abstractThe aim of this dissertation is to identify the potencial and the needs of institutional networks of higher distance education in Brazil, it is headquarters and the poles of classroom support, focusing on physical infrastructure and technological support aspects needed for the support and development of courses. To this end, it is part of the study of the recent development of Brazilian higher distance education and, in front of their enormous expansion in the past ten years. Factors that contribute to their growth exponentially are highlited: 1) The changes occasioned by the information and communication technologies (ICT); 2) Transformations in higher education; and 3) New legislation, seeking quality standard. In the age of cyberculture, there is a new form of relationships and interactions, which causes disturbances in the relation with knowledge and encourage educational renovations. Among these renovations, the greater integration of the use of technology in the learning environment stands out, which changes the pedagogical assumptions and reflects the need for new settings in the learning space. On the trends and prospects of the use of information and communication technologies in Brazilian higher education and the guidelines of applicable laws, the actual requirements of educational demand are noted.eng
