Abstract
É a partir desse
The prisional population in Brazil has grown sharply in recent years. As a result of overcrowding and the lack of investments in this sector, the prison system has become a place for repeated practices of human rights violations. Within this prison mass are transsexual and transvestite women, who endure all types of violence, psychological and physical, when they are arrested in male penal establishments. It is from this context that the importance of discussing the incarceration of the population of transsexual and transvestite women is located in different places to the common cells of male prisons, where they are exposed to discrimination and abuse due to their gender identity. In order to safeguard the rights of all women, cis, transsexuals and transvestites, there is a need to create Alas to welcome the LGBT population in all prisons in the country.
