This report describes the writing process of a book that talks about real women stories who had been through a hair transition. In order to produce and write the book, some women who had been through this process were interviewed. Hair transition is usually made by women who have curly hair and have used chemical substances in order to make their hair straight. The transition process is when these women stop using these substances, as a result, they will have their curly and natural hair back. Also, it is relevant to mention that the transition is not only about physical changes, but also emotional changes. Based on that, the book aims to explore these women’s lives in order to understand the importance of a hair transition. To sum up, this subject will let us talk about the origins of this theme and how racism and beauty standards have to deal with it.
