Resumo
Considering that reading has great importance in everyone’s life, it researches about young Brazilian reading, in order to investigate high school student’s reading practice having as priority the Osasco county. Therefore, it was necessary to analyse the statistics of the responsible organizations for evaluating Brazilian students’ reading competence, such as the Instituto Pro-Livro (IPL) 2007’s and 2015’s surveys; Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA); 2015’s survey; Indicador de Alfabetismo Funcional (INAF) 2018’s survey. After the transcription of the surveys data and the reflection about it, it was necessary to seek for theoretical foundation on Candido (2000), Lajolo and Zilberman (1996), Jouve (2002) and Failla (2016a, 2016b). Based on the collected informations by PISA (BRASIL, 2019a), it was necessary to focus specifically on the school reading data relative to the public high school network of Osasco county, based on the disclosed data by the Diagnóstico Estratégico de Osasco (SEPLAG, 2018), on the Plano Plurianual (PPA) of 2018-2021; by the survey of 2010 of Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE, 2010) of Osasco; by the Sistema de Avaliação Escolar do Estado de São Paulo (SARESP, 2019a) and, finally, we discussed some contents of the book Português Contemporâneo – Diálogo, Reflexão e Uso (student’s and teacher’s copies – volume 1) (CEREJA; VIANNA; DAMIEN, 2016), adopted between 2016 and 2019 by state high schools from the Osasco county. A research is then carried out from the perspective of the Aesthetic Reception, the conjuncture of the quality of reading planned to the high school teenager and the literary category on constantly change. That said, it ensures that the reading ability of young high school students falls short than expected, that much still remains to be done on leading that juvenile to a excellence reading. The schoolbook is one more instrument of everyday use of the student that, if it’s well used, it can assist the teacher in training readers, that imposes the contestation that new studies that include more school units, with larger samples, should be done once there is a lot to study about reading in basic education and, in particular, in high school.
