dc.description.abstractEste estudo “UNIVERSIDADE PRESBITERIANA MACKENZIE: Instituição Comunitária, Confessional Protestante na Educação Superior no Brasil” consiste em uma comunidade de onde emerge uma escola infantil que depois de duas décadas adentra também no Ensino Superior. Esta comunidade tem um percurso intercontinental, desde a sua gênese em um grupo religioso na Inglaterra à experiência brasileira, passando pela formação norte-americana. Na primeira parte, a análise procura situar a formação dos Puritanos na Inglaterra que após a Reforma Protestante do Século XVI. Estes eixos foram também considerados nos períodos coloniais e nacionais norte-americanos, contextos em que fundaram a Universidade de Harvard no início do período colonial e a Universidade e Princeton após o período dos avivamentos. Sofreram os influxos externos também do liberalismo e do pietismo e internos da experiência do avanço das fronteiras geopolíticas, da guerra de independência. Na segunda parte, o estudo busca compreender a natureza da mentalidade protestante no Brasil, em face a mudança de cenário cultural e de cultura política em que este grupo está inserido. Tentou-se descrever também o campo da Educação Superior no Brasil em especial diante da legislação de 2013 que tipifica as Instituições Comunitárias de Educação Superior — ICES. Por fim, na terceira parte deste estudo procurou-se descrever como a Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie se insere dentro deste contexto, observando algumas mudanças estruturais ocorridas na instituição e a influência de seus gestores durante e após o período de nacionalização da Instituição. A hipótese que se procurou mostrar ao longo da pesquisa é que os protestantes organizam sua ação no movimento liberal europeu, no estágio inicial, da sua interação com a experiência colonizatória norte-americana e da sua luta contra a hegemonia católico-romana no Brasil. Neste interim vão deixando ações que transcendem os limites da comunidade.pt_BR

local.description.abstractenThis study “MACKENZIE PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY: Community Institution, Protestant Confessional in Higher Education in Brazil” consists of a community from which a kindergarten emerges that after two decades also enters Higher Education. This community has an intercontinental path, from its genesis in a religious group in England to the Brazilian experience, passing through the North American formation. In the first part, the analysis seeks to situate the formation of the Puritans in England, which after the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century was a stronghold of Protestants for the king's interest in contracting new marriages with other women after their separation and in the interest of the same king not to pay tithes to Rome. These axes were also considered in the North American colonial and national periods, contexts in which Harvard University was founded at the beginning of the colonial period and the Princeton University after the period of the revivals. They also suffered external influxes from liberalism and pietism and internal influences from the experience of advancing geopolitical borders, of the war of independence. In the second part, the study seeks to understand the nature of the Protestant mentality in Brazil, given the change in the cultural scenario and political culture in which this group is inserted. An attempt was also made to describe the field of Higher Education in Brazil, especially in view of the 2013 legislation that typifies Community Higher Education Institutions — ICES. Finally, in the third part of this study, we tried to describe how Mackenzie Presbyterian University fits into this context, observing some structural changes that took place in the institution and the influence of its managers during and after the period of nationalization of the Institution. The hypothesis that we tried to show throughout the research is that the Protestants organize their action in the European liberal movement, in the initial stage, of their interaction with the North American colonization experience and of their fight against the Roman Catholic hegemony in Brazil. In the meantime, they leave actions that transcend the limits of the community.pt_BR
