Introduction: Cancer pain can significantly affect the patient's quality of life, affecting almost all patients in the advanced and terminal stages of the disease. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of analgesic treatment adopted for pain in cancer patients. Methodology: This is a prospective longitudinal cohort study, conducted by applying a questionnaire to cancer patients in curative and palliative care at Hospital Evangélico Mackenzie (HUEM) and Ambulatorio de Oncologia Evangélico Mackenzie (COM), from July to September 2023. Clinical data, related to the pain medications used, were obtained by consulting the patients' electronic medical records or by the report generated by the Farmácia do Paraná sem Dor, for HUEM and COM patients, respectively. The evaluation of the patients' pain was performed based on the medications in use, in accordance with the guidelines recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). The collected data was submitted to statistical analysis. Results: Of the 50 patients interviewed, all were using analgesic drugs and forty patients (80%) reported pain. Regarding the perception of pain improvement provided by the drugs, the average improvement was 69%, and fourteen patients (35%) reported improvement of 100% and only one patient (2.5%) reported no improvement. Concerning the impact of pain on quality of life, thirteen (32.5%) stated that the pain completely affected mood (10 on a scale of 0 to 10), with an average of 6.9 for pain interference in mood and in terms of impact on sleep, twenty-two answered that pain completely affected sleep (10 on a scale of 0 to 10), with an average of 7.6 of pain interference in sleep. Forty-five (90%) of the total number of patients evaluated had adequate pain relief. Conclusion: The analgesic therapy provided to patients was effective in most cases.
