Resumo
This article shows the application of a previously validated methodology in a PhD thesis research, using the online learning platform Moodle. It is proposed the use of distance learning techniques for complement the student's learning process in terms of the specific conceptual shortcomings and evaluate him in an efficient way. With online powerful tools it is possible to act in a direct and specific way, also including an optimized and interactive evaluation strategy. Initially, a field research was performed, with the objective of knowing the reality practiced in the main Engineering Schools of the most important universities of this country. Some of the main learning difficulties were found with the field research. As the main core of this article, a methodology supported by IT and by Internet communication is proposed, in order to revising and resuming basic concepts that are prerequisites for the disciplines of an engineering course. According this methodology, the students can, in an optimized way, using their available time, even far from the university, for complementing the insufficient concepts or consolidating them. This way, the students certainly will feel more stimulated and confident for studying in the respective course. Acting this way, it is possible to enlarge the teaching-learning process efficiency and additionally reducing the dropout rates caused mainly by the difficulties of the students in understanding and be approved in the disciplines of the first stages of an engineering course.
