O objetivo do REDD+ é reduzir o desmatamento e a
A mídia desempenha
Illegal deforestation, especially in the Brazilian Amazon, has caused significant changes in the terrestrial landscape and atmosphere due to human activity. Up to 50 thousand tons of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere for each square kilometer of destroyed forest, contributing to global warming and extreme weather events. Deforestation not only releases stored carbon but also diminishes the forest's capacity to affect rainfall formation and leads to significant losses in biodiversity and environmental services. Rising temperatures and human activities such as deforestation are responsible for climate change. Despite ratifying the Paris Agreement, committing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable practices, Brazil faces challenges in combating illegal deforestation and implementing conservation measures. The goal of REDD+ is to reduce deforestation and forest degradation, promote forest conservation and sustainable management, as well as drive sustainable economic development. The contribution of deforestation to climate change is just one aspect of how it affects forest ecosystems and biodiversity, underscoring the urgency of measures to protect forests and mitigate the impacts of climate change. The challenges of deforestation in Brazil involve political, economic, social, and environmental issues, such as agricultural expansion, lack of oversight, land grabbing, and economically unfavorable conservation policies. The media plays a fundamental role in exposing illegal deforestation, informing, raising awareness, and mobilizing public opinion to protect tropical forests.
