© 2020 John Wiley and Sons, Inc.The confluence between computers and drawing is a peculiar encounter since it involves the most complex medium of our age with the one that is the most elemental. This article departs from the debate on medium specificity to show how the layers of an event are often covered up by the use of everyday gadgets, thus concealing their complexity. Through a “fuzzy” logic, the essay reports drawing exhibitions in art institutions, making a parallel with the works by pioneers of the computer art field such as Frieder Nake, Vera Molnár, Charles Csuri among others. Finally, it analyzes recent works of two computer artists, Antoine Schmitt and Zachary Lieberman, charting the paths of drawing and the computer to demonstrate some unique and compelling encounters.
