One of the most widely discussed topics around the world today is how to significantly reduce the pollution rates generated by fossil fuels, and minimize damage to the environment and organisms. Among these problems can be mentioned the release of sulfur dioxides from the burning of petroleum products, which lead to the famous acid rain. The emission of this compound has become an environmental problem from the beginnings of the industrial revolution, extending to the present day. Numerous ways of neutralizing this acidity and detailing these emissions of gaseous pollutants have been established by different regulators and the initiative to create laws and regulations to actually monitor and quantify levels of this sulfur dioxide (SO2). This work will ratify what causes this environmental problem, the impacts of this rain, relate the evolution of the refining of oil and its fuels with sulphurous rain and evidence that sulfur levels have decreased in fuels, however, reaffirming that even with so much clarification, the automobile quantity only proliferates.
