dc.description.abstractThis scientific research, financed by CAPES and Mackenzie Presbiterian University, has as its main goal the proposal of a historiographic analysis of two compendia written by João de Barros in sixteenth century, focusing on how the author treated the communicative process in each of them: Grammatica da lingua portuguesa (1540) and Dialogo em louvor da nossa linguagem (1540). Through the reflections, parameters and principles of analysis proposed by Pierre Swiggers and Konrad Koerner, we sought to analyze in which measure the external elements influenced João de Barros’ thoughts presented in his grammar and apology and how the communicative process shows itself to be inserted in this genre of text, which traditionally did not approach this subject. With research apparatus that consider the historical context, the artistic movements and the influence that these external elements exert over the historical documents, we interpreted the corpus selected and observed that, even though the tradition in which these productions are inserted does not explicitly address the communicative process, it is implicitly present in these documents.eng
