Resumo
The study examined the experience of Education Higher Distance in the State of Mato Grosso seeking to identify traits of innovation in their practices. The methodological procedures are characterized as a case study of exploratory and qualitative nature. Data were analyzed using analysis of categories of Lankshear and Knobel (2008). The data allowed the understanding of innovation in three categories of analysis: characterization of EAD profile, assumptions innovation and innovative aspects. The concept of innovation present in definitions given by respondents denotes the characteristic of something new, a new way of doing something that already exists, new application or new meaning.
