Introduction: The degree of hearing loss (HL) can be influenced by ear malformations and other factors. Altered measurements of the lateral semicircular canals applied in high-resolution computed tomography (CT) exams may be related to otological changes, such as hearing loss. Furthermore, the association of changes in the middle and external ears may also be related to the degree of hearing loss. Objective: To evaluate the prevalence, type and degree of hearing loss in patients with altered measurements of the lateral semicircular canal identified through tomographic examination. Methodology: The retrospective study consists of data collection, through a review of medical records of patients with changes in the measurements of the lateral semicircular canals detected on a CT scan, associated with the type and degree of hearing loss, epidemiological data and other data. changes in the ears of analyzed patients. Measurements outside the range of 2.6 - 4.8 mm were considered altered. Results: 23 ears were tested, all of which had changes in the measurements of the lateral semicircular canals. The predominant sex was female (61.54%). The predominant type of hearing loss was sensorineural (65.22%), followed by mixed (17.39%), conduction (8.7%) and normal (8.7%). Regarding the degree of hearing loss, profound (39.13%) predominated, followed by moderate (26.09%), mild (17.39%), severe (8.7%) and without loss (8.7%). The average number of bone islands in the lateral semicircular canals was lower in the group with profound hearing loss, with a statistically significant difference between the group with profound and non-profound hearing loss (p=0.04884). Of the 23 ears studied, 86.96% had malformations only in the inner ear. Conclusion: More than 90% of patients with altered measurements of the lateral semicircular canal had hearing loss. The most common type of hearing loss was the sensorineural type and the most prevalent degree of loss was profound.
