One approach refers to the sociological view of learning in organizations (GHERARDI; NICOLINI; ODELLA, 1998; GHERARDI; NICOLINI, 2001) in which the social environment is the space where occur learning processes and knowledge generation. The main aim of this paper is to present and discuss the contributions of Silvia Gherardi which is one of the major international researchers in the field of learning in organizations and has a large number of scientific literature on the subject, emphasizing the sociological perspective of learning by practices. This goal is the reason why that despite a vast literature on organizational learning, in the Brazilian context are very few studies that have adopted some of the sociological perspectives of learning, this gap is identified in the work of Bispo and Mello (2012). As this article intends contributions: 1. present in a single text the main ideas and concepts Silvia Gherardi, and 2. bring to the debate of Brazilian scholars in the field a sociological social learning perspective that allows a better understanding of how does the learning in group and organizational levels occurs. The qualitative research is essentially based on a literature review of the works of Gherardi supplemented by informal conversations with her during a stay of the author at the University of Trento in 2010 and 2013, plus some e-mails after returning to Brazil. As a contribution, this paper presents a reflection on the adoption of practices such as generating element of collective learning as well as forming the organizations, applying to be a new paradigm that carries in its ontological and epistemological assumptions an alternative to contribute to the advancement of studies on organizational learning.
