Este artigo apresenta um estudo de caso de uma empresa de e-commerce do Brasil, com o objetivo de compreender como a logística do e-commerce B2C reagiu ao aumento repentino da demanda ocasionado pela pandemia de Covid-19. Para tanto, antes houve a necessidade de compreender os efeitos da pandemia de Covid-19 na demanda do e-commerce B2C. O estudo de caso foi realizado através da análise dos relatórios divulgados aos investidores trimestralmente, cobrindo o período do 4º trimestre de 2018 ao 1º trimestre de 2021 com o intuito de analisar o cenário antes da pandemia de Covid-19 e o cenário já com os efeitos da pandemia. Ao analisar os relatórios aos investidores, foi constatado um expressivo aumento da demanda no e-commerce B2C. A extensa plataforma digital da empresa que troca informações em tempo real com todos os seus parceiros – indústria 4.0 – foi fundamental para a logística implementar novas estratégias e consequentemente atender a nova demanda; a readequação ao utilizar estruturas já existentes também foi um pilar fundamental neste novo cenário. Estar preparado digitalmente atrelado com ações de curto prazo e saber utilizar as estruturas físicas disponíveis foram fundamentais para a logística atender a nova demanda do e-commerce B2C.
This article presents a case study about an e-commerce company in Brazil. In order to understand how B2C e-commerce logistics reacted to the sudden increase in demand caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, there was a need to understand the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the demand for the B2C e-commerce. The case study was carried out by analyzing the reports released to investors on a quarterly basis, covering the period from the 4th quarter of 2018 to the 1st quarter of 2021, in order to analyze the scenario before the Covid-19 pandemic and the scenario already with the effects of the pandemic. When analyzing the reports to investors, a significant increase in demand in B2C e-commerce was found. The company's extensive digital platform that exchanges information in real time with all its partners – industry 4.0 – was essential for the logistics to implement new strategies and consequently meet the new demand; the readjustment in using existing structures was also an important pillar in this new scenario. Being digitally prepared, linked to short-term actions and knowing how to use the available physical structures were fundamental for the logistics to meet the new demand of B2C e-commerce.
