O ator da enunciação, no discurso proferido por Fernando Henrique Cardoso, em 1º de janeiro de 1995, por ocasião da investidura do cargo de presidente do Brasil

Abstract

Este trabalho tem por objetivo revelar e analisar o ator da enunciação, no discurso proferido por Fernando Henrique Cardoso, em 1o de janeiro de 1995, por ocasião da investidura do cargo de presidente do Brasil. Como nosso objeto de estudo é um único discurso e não o conjunto da obra do ex-presidente, é nosso propósito específico desvelar o ator da enunciação na materialização discursiva do narrador. Em outras palavras, é nosso objetivo identificar e analisar o éthos do narrador. Teórica e metodologicamente, utilizamos os fundamentos da semiótica greimasiana para desenvolver nosso estudo, particularmente os concernentes à sintaxe e à semântica discursivas. Para operacionalizar a análise, dividimos o texto em segmentos que pudessem ser identificados por alguma especialização temática. Após a análise, damos evidência aos fatores determinantes do éthos em cada segmento, os quais foram retomados, ao final, para construir uma configuração geral. Como resultado de nosso estudo, podemos dizer, em síntese, que dele emergiram destacadamente os seguintes éthe do narrador: o éthos de figura histórica, revelado na associação de sua imagem a grandes nomes da História do país, com as quais se identifica, e as quais até ultrapassa em relevância histórica; o éthos messiânico, apresentado como alguém aguardado pela História, para salvar os brasileiros de suas mazelas sociais; o éthos de aristocrata, evidenciado na importância que dá à sua linhagem, e na visão de mundo acerca da sociedade; o éthos de autossuficiência, expresso no contraste entre a imagem que faz de si mesmo e de outros políticos e de governos anteriores ao seu; éthos de um político sagaz, consciente tanto do poder do capital político que alcançou com o Plano Real, quanto do uso inteligente da retórica e da linguagem.

This master’s thesis aims at revealing and analyzing the enunciation actor, in the speech given by Fernando Henrique Cardoso, on 1º of January 1995, on the investiture of the post of President of Brazil. As our object of study is a single discourse, and not the whole of the ex-president's work, it is our specific purpose to reveal the enunciation actor in the narrator's discursive materialization. In other words, it is our goal to identify and analyze the narrator's éthos. Theoretically and methodologically, we used the fundamentals of greimasian semiotics to develop our study, particularly those concerning discursive syntax and semantics. To make the analysis operational, we divided the text into segments that could be identified by some thematic specialization. After the analysis, we evidence to the determining factors of éthos in each segment, which were resumed, at the end, to build a general configuration. As a result of our study, we can say, in summary, that the following éthe of the narrator emerged from it: the éthos of a historical figure, revealed in the association of his image with great names in the history of the country, with whom he identifies, and also those ones that he even exceeds in historical relevance; the messianic éthos, presented as someone awaited by history, to save Brazilians from their social ills; the aristocrat éthos, evidenced in the importance that his lineage gives, and in the world view about society; the éthos of self-sufficiency, expressed in the contrast between the image he makes of himself and that of other politicians and governments prior to his; éthos of a shrewd politician, aware both of the power of political capital he achieved with the Real Plan, and of the intelligent use of rhetoric and language.
