The growth of the aging population, to the detriment of the growth of the economically active population, is worrying. It is imperative for economic dynamics that workers remain in the market for longer, but society is not prepared to keep them in the work environment. Age attitudes towards older people are an unfavorable assessment due to age. The study in the area is still incipient and many gaps are revealed: it is characterized by deficient measurement of age attitudes and absence of predictors with cultural components in the formation of age attitudes. In view of this gap, the aim of this thesis was to analyze the relationship between the cultural values of individualism-collectivism, social axioms and age attitudes through a model. In order to achieve the objective, empirical research was carried out with the application of five scales for measuring: stereotypes, prejudice and intention to discriminate older workers, and social axioms and individualism-collectivism. Through a quantitative research, 424 valid responses were obtained from workers over 18 years old and with experience in the professional relationship with workers over 50 years old. The data were submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and structural equation modeling. The results confirm that the age-old attitudes towards the older worker can be measured through its stereotypes, prejudice and intention to discriminate. Four dimensions of social axioms are also confirmed as predictors of age attitudes: social cynicism, social complexity, spirituality and effort reward. The hypothesis about the relationship with the cultural values of individualism-collectivism has not been confirmed. The results imply the advancement of the literature on age, contributing to a way of measuring age attitudes with all the components involved. Another contribution to the advancement of the age literature was the presentation of four dimensions of social axioms as predictors of age attitudes.
