This position paper explains our method for segmenting and volume rendering in computer tomography images. Our application is developed to reconstruct craniofacial objects in 3D visualization using insight toolkit and visualization toolkit frameworks. We intend to quantify volume rendering of mucus found in CT images and analyze the data which is an important tool in sinus disease treatment. Two algorithms were implemented in order to compare the results: an automatic segmentation and a manual method. Both solutions presented some issues that will be discussing in the next sections.
