dc.description.abstract© 2023 University of Minho. All rights reserved. This research aims to examine the efficacy of hackathons as educational instruments for engineering students at Mackenzie University, focusing on creating innovative metaverse logistics solutions using blockchain technology. These events have gained popularity and provide a unique platform for students and professionals to demonstrate their abilities, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The investigation adopts a case study methodology to analyze the qualitative and descriptive statistical data gathered during the hackathon event. The hackathon at University Presbyterian Mackenzie is a cooperative event where students, professors, and 11 companies collaborate to devise innovative solutions for complex challenges. The Grupo Petrópolis company posed a metaverse innovation challenge to the engineering school. The study's findings emphasize the challenges encountered by the blockchain-related metaverse, currently involved in establishing the infrastructure for IoT devices, integrated systems, data security, and internet speed. Consequently, the research suggests that the TIMTIM group's project has not yet demonstrated a robust link between the technological design of the metaverse and e-commerce practices.
