A instrumentação básica da ponte estaiada da estação Santo Amaro da Linha 5 do Metrô de São Paulo, tem o objetivo de monitoração dos efeitos de temperatura, vento e aqueles induzidos pela operação do sistema trem-público. Em relação ao conforto do usuário, é necessário monitorar as vibrações em condição de operação, de forma a permitir que se avaliem as reais condições de conforto, por meio da análise das frequências e das amplitudes de velocidade e aceleração. Estão sujeitas a vibrações, além do tabuleiro, o pilão, cujo topo move se horizontalmente com o movimento vertical do trecho central do vão, e os estais. No caso de pontes estaiadas, a garantia da durabilidade dos estais ao longo da vida útil da ponte exige um programa de inspeção e monitoração para subsidiar as manutenções preventiva e corretiva, principalmente dos estais, que considere aspectos das fases de montagem e operação. O principal objetivo da instrumentação e o monitoramento é detectar e avaliar quaisquer sintomas de anomalias operacionais e / ou deterioração ou danos que possam provocar efeitos adversos sobre o serviço ou confiabilidade, segurança através do processamento e análise dos dados coletados a partir de transdutores e sensores.
