Resumo
No século passado – chamado de século das fábricas – a vantagem competitiva das organizações se dava pelo poder financeiro, domínio das técnicas de produção e fontes de matéria prima. Hoje, a competitividade é fundamentada no conhecimento e informação. Assim, numa economia do conhecimento, os recursos humanos são mais importantes para superar a concorrência do que o próprio capital físico e financeiro. Como consequência, novas práticas gerenciais estão sendo desenvolvidas e aperfeiçoadas, bem como o perfil dos profissionais que ocuparão os novos postos de trabalho. Neste contexto, o presente estudo busca identificar quais devem ser as competências e habilidades do Engenheiro de Produção para que este profissional se consolide no mercado de trabalho. Este trabalho caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa descritiva, exploratória e de campo que, amparada pelos conceitos presentes na literatura, foi aplicada à gestores de diversos segmentos de empresas que contrataram recentemente algum profissional da Engenharia de Produção, a fim de observar as habilidades e competências essenciais sob a perspectiva das organizações. Como resultado, foram propostos dois perfis de competências e habilidades para o Engenheiro de Produção, sendo um para a contratação de futuros profissionais e outro para o desempenho das atividades dos profissionais que já atuam no mercado.
In the last century – also known as the century of the factories - the competitive advantage of the organizations was given by the financial power, domination of the techniques of production and sources of raw material. Today, competitiveness is based on knowledge and information. Thus, in a knowledge economy, human resources are more important to overcome competition than physical and financial capital itself. Therefore, new managerial practices are being developed and improved, as well as the profile of the professionals who will occupy the new jobs. In this context, the present study seeks to identify which skills and abilities a Production Engineer should have so this professional could consolidate itself in the labor market. This work is characterized as a descriptive, exploratory and field research that, supported by the concepts present in the literature, was applied to the managers of several companies that recently contracted some professional of Production Engineering, in order to observe the abilities and competences from the perspective of organizations. As a result, two profiles of skills and abilities were proposed for the Production Engineer, one for the hiring of future professionals and the other for the performance of the professionals already working in the market.
