dc.description.abstract© 2021, Defensoria Publica do Distrito Federal. All rights reserved.Although is possible to discuss about violence as a fact against the law, this article intends to show how violence can be equally understood as a fact that is committed by the law itself, and even more: violence is the essence of the law. In order to underpin this statement, this article interacts with Walter Benjamin’s philosophy, with Michel Foucault’s concept of biopolitics, Achille Mbembe’s notion of necropolitics, and finally the literary work made by Lukas Bärfuss about the Ruanda’s genocide held in 1994.
