Resumo
Cosmic ray Forbush decreases observed during the events of 7th July 1966, 23rd May 1967 and 9th June 1969 produced night-time phase and amplitude perturbations on very low frequency signals received at São Paulo, Brazil from transmitters GBZ, Criggion, U.K. (19.6 kHz), NBA, Balboa, Canal Zone (24.0 kHz), GBR, Rugby, U.K. (16.0 kHz) and NAA, Cutler, Maine, U.S.A. (17.8 kHz). All the above propagation paths to São Paulo are transequatorial and cross the South Atlantic geomagnetic anomaly. The effect of each event is discussed individually and reasons are advanced to account for the fact that even comparatively low latitude paths crossing the anomaly can at times be affected by decreases in the cosmic ray flux. © 1972.
