Determinations of the total atmospheric absorption at 22.2 GHz have been obtained from measurements of atmospheric emission. The results indicate a large range of variation in total absorption seasonally, daily, and hourly. The measurement uncertainties are much smaller than any of these observed variations. The absorption does not show a sufficiently precise correlation with the surface dew point temperature to enable the prediction of the absorption to be made from the dew point temperature. © 1975, IEEE.
