We investigated the spontaneous behavior of an Erbium-doped-fiber-laser synchronously and asynchronously mode-locked operating at 10GHz. We observed that the central wavelength shifts to a lower one. This knowledge is necessary to achieve the modelocking stabilization. © 2010 Optical Society of America.
