A Digital Ecosystem with Pedagogical Aspects to Support the Creation of Accessible Educational Resources

© The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.The lack of support tools for teachers and pedagogical content creators in the creation and implementation of accessible digital educational resources encouraged the realization of the Smart Ecosystem for Learning and Inclusion Project - SELI Project, which involved researchers from different countries in Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Based on the difficulties regarding the Digital Exclusion of the countries involved in this project, an authoring tool, called SELI Learning Platform, was implemented to assist and guide teachers in planning, structuring, and building accessible courses. In this context, this paper presents some keys aspects of pedagogical planning for the creation of accessible educational digital resources on the SELI Learning Platform. Eight pilot studies of the development of accessible courses using this ecosystem are implemented to check its efficiency, and feasibility and point out some improvements. How instructional design guide, one of the improvements, based on the ADDIE framework, and accessibility aspects were incorporated into the ecosystem are discussed. The results of the usability evaluation with eight teachers of these pilot studies are presented, with their strengths and weaknesses.
