Resumo
Through the classification of amphipods from of the Ubatuba off-shore region based on their life styles, three different assemblages could be established related to season and distance from the coast. The first assemblage was related to the inner shelf during summer and spring, it was characterized by the presence of amphipods of all possible life styles. The second assemblage was related to the outer shelf and was dominated by tube dwellers from the epifauna and infauna. The third assemblage related to the inner shelf during autumn and winter, it was dominated by burrowers. The seasonal variation observed in the inner shelf assemblage is possibly related to the disturbance processes brought by the passage of cold fronts, especially in winter.
