© 2024 IEEE.The Television (TV) 3.0 project was created by the Brazilian Digital Terrestrial Television System (SBTVD-T) Forum to develop the next generation of the Brazilian Digital Television (DTV) system. The project's third phase is underway, and laboratory tests relating to the Physical Layer (PL) have already been completed. Some requirements tested were Frequency Reuse1, use of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antennas, negative Carrier-to-Noise Ratio (C/N) in Rayleigh channels, and indoor antenna reception. After subjective video tests were completed, it was decided that a bit rate of at least 7.5 Mbps (for 1080p 60 Hz (Full High Definition (FHD)) with the same quality used in Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial. Version B (ISDB-Tb)) and ranging up to 37.3 Mbps would be required for the new system to allow transmission of Ultra High Definition (UHD) content using Versatile Video Coding (VVC) codec. Therefore, in addition to the results obtained during the Phase 3 laboratory tests, this article shows complementary results of Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0, considering new configurations that enable the aforementioned bit rates to be achieved. The results show that new Modulation and Codings (MODCODs) allow the system to transmit 4360p (8K UHD) content with C/N values below or close to those currently practiced by most Brazilian broadcasters.
