dc.description.abstractRecently a detailed study was performed with nitrided and unnitrided tool steels including AISI H13, AISI D2, K 340, AISI D6 and AISI M2. Different nitriding processes including: gas, salt bath and also salt bath plus diffusion heat treatment were performed and compared. Performance of the tool steels was evaluated using bending tests and impact tests. Microstructural characterization was performed using optical microscopy. The results of this work will be compared and discussed in this paper.
