Abstract
This paper work attempted to reflect about the nation's role as prominent superior performance of its domestic industry, in this case the bottled mineral water industry, by means of Brazil imports more water than exports, and how the formation of Clusters of companies in this sector could strengthen the national dynamic for the country to obtain a superior performance in the international competition. Michael Porter, the Cluster Theory author and a Competitive Advantage Theory contributor, was used as main theoretical reference. Data from the domestic mineral water industry as production, demand, employments, national dynamics and Brazil's competitive determinants, were indentified through bibliographies. Based on this data, it was elaborated an exploratory and qualitative study of the concentration of bottled mineral water companies in the Circuito das águas Paulista, region formed by the cities of Socorro, Serra Negra, Pedreira, Monte Alegre do Sul, Lindóia, águas de Lindóia, Jaguariúna and Amparo, indentifying the Cluster, its productive chain and its development phase, as well as possible opportunities of attraction for new ventures, the positive externalities and the multiplier effects brought to the region by the concentration of this companies, verifying how the Cluster theory could classify itself as a better spatial organization to explore mineral water.
