dc.description.abstract© 2024 IEEE.Considering the results obtained during the laboratory tests of the third phase of the Television (TV) 3.0 project, the Brazilian government-sponsored initiative to define the next-generation Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting (DTTB) standard in the country, it was possible to make an analysis and, based on this, define some characteristics of the Physical Layer (PL) that will be vital for achieving the project's objectives. Among the main features are the use of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antennas, the possibility of achieving low Carrier-to-Noise Ratio (C/N) values in Rayleigh channels using powerful error correction codes, and indoor reception. The development of $2 \times 2$ MIMO antennas, which will be adopted for the Brazilian next-generation DTTB system, must be done to avoid interference and reception failures caused by effects common to this type of antenna, such as cross-polarization. The main objective of this work is to analyze the effects caused by varying the Cross-Polarization Interference (XPI) level using equipment compatible with Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0. The obtained results show that XPI is significant in all the tested Modulation and Codings (MODCODs). In the case of more robust MODCODs, the effect was negative and the results suffered representative degradation for lower Cross-Polarization Discrimination (XPD) values. On the other hand, in the case of less robust MODCODs, lowering the XPD value improved the results.
