dc.description.abstractThis article is intended as a contribution to the study of the daily experiences of immigrants in the city of Sao Paulo during the period between 1870 and 1945. It will seek to recover the web of daily relationships in the field of business and labor analyzing the activities of production and marketing of bread, and observing the plot of connections and tensions existing between owners and workers in bakeries, especially those run by Portuguese origin, which represent the majority. Privileging the documentation of DEOPS (Departamento Estadual de Ordem Política e Social), and especially the manuals, it reconstructs the conflicts, forms of resistance, struggles and strikes that characterized the bakery's sector.
