The paper presents a case study of an automatic recloser installation in primary distribution networks. The implementation of the reclosers helped reduce the continuity indicators, however for consumers who have sensitive loads, especially in the industrial sector, voltage disturbances in the electrical grid caused by the reclosing of the grid have become a serious problem, causing immeasurable monetary losses. To this end, studies were conducted to deepen the concepts of distribution network protection, focusing on the three-phase automatic circuit recloser, presenting its concepts and principles of operation. In addition, studies in the area of power quality were directed, especially in relation to its quality indicators, through the reading of module 8 of the Procedures for the Distribution of Electricity in the National Electric System (PRODIST). It was modeled using the SINAPgrid software, a computational tool that allows the study and modeling of overhead electric grid systems and their properties, in order to demonstrate the feasibility of using three-phase reclosers. The study was developed and tested demonstrating the feasibility of installing the protection equipment. In one of the simulations a CED rate of 2.03 was obtained without the recloser, and after its implementation a CED rate of 1.99 was obtained, thus demonstrating the reduction in service continuity indicators.
