All rights reserved.Objectives: The article explores the relationship between economic growth and scientific and technological innovation, in its various dimensions. It is clear that continuous technological innovation has improved the way we live; however, the short-term disruptive aspects of technological change are real and also deserve attention since they lead to technologically sustainable economic growth. Methodology: The method used is the hypothetical deductive, using bibliographic review, especially North American works, aiming to analyze the research problem from the perspective of the country with the most development in the subject. Results: The article concludes with a wide discussion on the relevance of these discoveries to shape cultural attitudes towards technology and the role that public policies can play in promoting innovation, growth and continuous improvements in the quality of life of citizens, which is applicable to developing countries like Brazil. Contributions: The text promotes a theoretical advance by allowing the improvement of public policies aimed at scientific and technological innovation in order to find a solution to mitigate the risks of innovation processes.
