All rights reserved.Objective: the main objective of this study is, therefore, to present a brief historical picture of international society and the development of globalization through historical contextualization, in order to understand international relations today and the respective role of international organizations. In addition, the sprouting of new international actors will be analyzed, as well as the establishment of new parameters of action and decision-making in the globalized world, particularly when it comes to the search for a balance between the various actors with the use of political and diplomatic instruments in the search for satisfactory results. Methodology: the deductive method of bibliographic and documentary procedure for research is provided, through the review of books and scientific articles, as well as legislation and international treaties on the subject. Results: globalization is a phenomenon without a date of birth. Its presence can be admitted by analyzing an entire context; as a result of the march that accompanies History. There is little unanimity on the issue, as the controversy extends from the most appropriate nomenclature to the scope of this process. However, the study of globalization can be presented in waves, where advances and setbacks are observed separated by intervals that can last for centuries. Contributions: in this scenario, which includes the notion of global governance, a balance must be found between the various actors, with the use of political and diplomatic instruments in the search for satisfactory results in the international system.
