ca.mi.nhar [caminho] v.int 1. Percorrer caminho a pé. 2. Fig. Progredir, avançar. Ti. 3. Fig. Propender (2): Este caso caminha para o fim. Tc. 4. Dirigir (7).
walk [wɔ :k] vint 1. to walk, go on foot. 2. to hike, march. 3. to travel on foot. The act of walking through the city has undergone remarkable changes throughout history; and its political, economic, social and cultural context has influenced the way in which the walk has been seen, in who was practicing it and with what intentions. During these transformations, the walkers received different nomenclatures: in modern times the one who walked through the crowd without being perceived was the flâneur; in postmodern times, Dadaists, Surrealists and Situationists used daydreaming and ambulation as a form of art; and in contemporary times the expression used for those who walk about the city is urban wanderings. ABSTRACT Walking is also tied to the concept of time, which intercedes in the rhythm of people’s lives and influences directly how they experience the city. Together (walking and time), are the cause and consequence, simultaneously, of the quality of interaction among strangers in public spaces. This urban environment also influences and is influenced by the context of the city, making these discussions closely intertwined. By tracing the path of the walk, the research proposes an investigation of the way that this action can be used as an instrument of study and learning of the city; an art form that allows questions and experiences through fragments and invisibilities. As a base ground of this study, city experiences were reported as tools to outline panoramas and to produce cartographies as records of urban experiences. Therefore, the design of the “walk in the city experience” was proposed as an intervention in the real city: an alternative proposal aiming the intensification of the urban experience. To existing experience and that intensifies the urban experience., In front of this, it was thought a walk like intervention; a proposal in the real city that could be
